MAMMA MIA!!!

On July 5th, I went to the Osaka Shiki Gekijo, Osaka Shiki Theatre, to watch the play, MAMMA MIA! This is played by Gekidan Shiki, one of the Japanese famous company.

It was soooo great! I've watched the play, for example, at the university, but they're free, so it was my first time to pay and watch! I can't express my feeling in English clearly... my poor English... The play is a musical, so it consists of music, singing, and dancing, and the music which is used in this play is all ABBA's songs!! So players sing and dance with the music like "money, money, money", "dancing queen", and of course "mamma mia". Of course they sing in Japanese, because it's a Japanese play. They are extremely powerful, and I was very moved and my tears ran on my cheek without my mind. It was my first time to cry with someone's power. I often cry with watching movies of love stories or heart warimg stories, and I think it's because of the its story. Of course actors and actresses' skills make the film better. But in this case, I first cried at the scene that does not make cry the audience, and it was only about 10 minutes from the beginning of the play! After that, my tears ran and ran in any scenes. At last, there's a curtain call and the SHOW! Can you believe that? I was sure before watching it that there's a singing with audience standing, but I was not sure when it happens. When all of the players were on the stage, and three main actresses sang three ABBA's songs with audience who are standing and waving their hands from left to right with singing together, "♪Dancing Queen~♪" Of course, I was very moved, so I was crying with waving. (hahaha!) The play made me happy and moved a lot! I'll study about theatre in my studying abroad, and this gave me a power. Even though I wrote in this blog, "I'm looking forward to studying at the U.S. University!", I was worried about my abillity. Can I take and understand what the professor says? Can I study full semester? Does not the university send me back to Japan? Will the university in Japan accept what I do in the the calsses at Missouri even though they are judged in PASS or FAIL, not A, B, C, or D? (My university admit the credits the student had in his studying abroad, and they are added to his credits to graduate.) But, they, Shiki Players, put my worry away, and gave me an idea. When I left the theater, I thought in my mind, "I'll do what I can do with my best, and even if my credits were not accepted, even if I could not graduate from the university in four years, it is my studying abroad. It's mine! What I do is mine!" At the moment, I felt like I was released from something invisible.

It's not cheap to watch it in good seat, but I do want to watch it again! And Gekidan Shiki is a big company, and has some groups in some areas, so they play several plays in several areas everyday. I want to watch other works, too. I was fascinated with the play!
